The Exynos 7 Series (9610) was the last chip out of the Series 7 range from Samsung. The Exynos 9610 is an octa-core mobile processor built on a 10nm FinFET process which was the latest process compared to the two former chips in the range. The chip was optimised for vision and image processing based on neural network engine. The chip also has an LTE modem and diverse wireless connectivity .
Exynos 7 Series (9610) Specs
The Exynos 7 Series 9610 processor features a vision image processing unit based on a deep-learning technology as it gets used for facial recognition. The DSP (Digital Signal Processor) is also optimised for this as it converts analog streams of images and video into a digital signal using this deep learning technology. The chip is designed for future AI related features as this chip allows with a conventional two-stack image sensor to play movies at 480fps in slow-motion with full HD. This is possible as the multi-format codec (MFC) can encode and decode up to 4K at 120fps with the HEVC(H.265) codec. This makes for excellent slow motion video at very high speed in high detail.
The processor on this chip are four Cortex-A73 cores with a clock speed of up to 2.3GHz as well as four Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 1.6GHz for lighter work. The phone will switch from one to the other when needed.
