If you bought a new phone from Samsung such as the J6 then you will need to transfer your data from your old phone to your new phone. This can be done in a number of ways however there is a Samsung way to do this very easily. You can also see how to remove the SD card on the J6.

Galaxy J6 – Transferring Data
If you are moving your data from another Samsung phone then you can move all your data via the Samsung Cloud to your new mobile phone. You can use Smart Switch and this is done as follows on the Samsung J6 mobile phone which you can download from the Play Store.
- Tap Settings;
- Tap Cloud and accounts;
- Tap Smart Switch;
- Tap WIRELESS → SEND; (on the old phone)
- Tap WIRELESS → RECEIVE; (on the new phone)
- Follow the instructions on-screen.
This should work for most however if you do not wish to transfer your data this way due to privacy concerns then you can backup your phone onto your SD Card. You will first need to format the SD Card for the J6 and then start the process preferably with a new SD Card.
Transferring data using external storage
- Transfer data to external storage; (old phone)
- Insert the SD card into your phone; (new phone)
- Tap Settings;
- tap Cloud and accounts;
- Tap Smart Switch;
- Tap EXTERNAL STORAGE;
- Tap RESTORE.
You can also do this with Smart Switch on your computer by backing up the old phones data via USB cable to your computer and then restore this via the USB cable to your new mobile phone. The instructions are very easy to follow.
Syncing data (Samsung J6 Backup)
If you wish to keep a current copy of you phone as a backup in the event of theft or loss then you can do this with the Samsung Cloud when you sync the data on your phone.
- Tap Settings;
- Tap Cloud and accounts;
- Tap Samsung Cloud;
- Tap Settings;
- Tap Sync settings;
- Tap the switches of the items you want to sync.
