The Nokia Lumia 610 NFC User Manual is a bottom of the range phone from Nokia. With 8GB storage on the phone and 2G and 3G access there is a limitation with no 4G. The phone uses a 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A5 to power itself running Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango as its operating system.

Customizing Your Phone

Let’s talk about making your phone truly yours by customizing the home screen to fit your style. Do you want only the essentials on your home screen? No worries! You can move or remove tiles and pin contacts, apps, and websites to the home screen. Want to have quick access to your favorite music, photos, latest emails, and top contacts? You got it! You can pin them to the home screen. When you pin a contact, you’ll see their updates right on the tile, and you can call them directly from the home screen. Pin a Contact:

  1. Go to People.
  2. Select the contact you want, hold it down, and then choose “Pin to Start.”

  1. Navigate to the Apps menu.
  2. Hold down the app you want, then select “Pin to Start.”

Pin a Website: Visit a website, select >, and choose “Pin to Start.”

And if you want to move a tile around:

  1. Select the tile and hold it down.

  1. In the Photos hub, select > Choose Background.
  2. Pick an image, tweak it to your liking, and select.

Pro Tip: If you’re into variety, choose a random background. Your phone will randomly use one of your images.

 

Customizing Ringtones and Sounds

Make your phone’s tones your own.

  1. Select > and Ringtones & Sounds.
  2. Choose the type of ringtone or alert you want to change and select the sound.

Bonus Tip: Use the Zune app on your PC to create ringtones from your favorite tracks.

 

Creating Your Own Ringtone

Use your own sound files as a ringtone.

  1. Connect your phone to your computer with a compatible USB cable.
  2. Open Zune on the computer.
  3. Select the sound file you want as a ringtone. It should be in MP3 or WMA format, less than 40 seconds long, and smaller than 1 MB.
  4. Right-click on the file and choose Edit.
  5. Write “ringtone” in the genre field or select it from the list.
  6. Drag the new ringtone and drop it onto your phone.
  7. On your phone, go to > Ringtones & Sounds, then select your new ringtone

 

Muting Your Phone

If you want to keep things hush-hush, you can activate silent mode to mute all ringtones and alerts. This is handy when you’re in places like the movies or during a meeting.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Press any volume key to see the volume status bar.
  2. Then, select “Ringtone Off.” Silent mode is now on. If your phone is set to vibrate, it’ll go into vibrate mode instead of silent mode.

 

Setting Your Phone to Vibrate

For those times when you want a subtler notification, you can set your phone to vibrate.

  1. Select > and go to Ringtones & Sounds.
  2. Set Vibrate to On.

Oops, made a mistake? No worries. Just hit the backspace key to remove a character.

Switching Between Writing Languages

Time to switch up your language game! Press the language key to toggle between different writing languages.

 

Moving the Cursor

Need to tweak your text? Tap and hold anywhere on the screen until a cursor appears. Drag the cursor to where you want it without lifting your finger.

If you want to hop to the next line or text box, hit the enter key. Keep in mind that the function of the enter key may vary depending on the app. For example, in the web browser’s address bar, it works like the search icon

 

Using Keyboard Word Suggestions

Make your typing game stronger! Your phone suggests words as you type, making you write faster and more accurately. Keep in mind that word suggestions might not be available in all languages.

Here’s how you can set it up:

  1. Select > and go to Keyboard > Typing Settings.
  2. Choose a keyboard, and select Show Text Suggestions and Highlight Misspelled Words.

Now, when you start typing a word in a text field, your phone will suggest words as you write. Just choose the right word when it pops up. If you want to add a new word to your dictionary, type the word, select it, and then tap the plus sign (+) next to the word on the suggestion bar.

 

Turning Off Word Suggestions

Changed your mind? No worries. To disable word suggestions, select a keyboard and then uncheck the box for Show Text Suggestions and Highlight Misspelled Words.

Clearing All Manually Added Words

If you want to wipe the slate clean and remove all manually added words from the suggestions list, select Reset Suggestions.

 

Adding More Writing Languages

Switch between languages while typing by adding different writing languages to your keyboard.

  1. Select > and go to Keyboard.
  2. Choose the languages you want to write in. The language key will appear on the keyboard for easy switching.

If it feels like your phone is always thirsty for power, here are some ways to reduce energy consumption and strike a balance between optimal phone usage and acceptable battery life.

Charging Tips:

  • Always charge your battery fully.
  • Enable Battery Saver mode. To check the battery status and activate Battery Saver mode, select > and Battery Saver.

Saving Battery with Sound and Screen Options:

  • Silence unnecessary sounds, like key tones.
  • Use wired headphones instead of the speaker.
  • Set your phone screen to turn off after a short period. Select > and Lock Screen > Screen Timeout.

Camera Power Management:

  • After taking photos, press the .

Dark Theme for Power Saving:

  • Use a dark theme for your phone. Select > and Theme > Background > Dark.

Screen Brightness Adjustment:

  • Lower screen brightness. Select > and Brightness, turn off Automatic Adjustments, and choose your preferred level.

Selective Network Connection Use:

  • Activate Airplane mode if you’re not using your phone for calls.
  • Adjust email settings to check for new messages less frequently.
  • Turn on Bluetooth only when needed.
  • Prefer Wi-Fi over mobile data for internet connections.
  • Stop your phone from scanning for available Wi-Fi networks. Select > and Wi-Fi, then set Wi-Fi networks to Off.

 

Creating, Editing, or Deleting a Contact

You can store your friends’ phone numbers, addresses, and other information in the People hub on your phone. Here’s how:

Adding a New Contact:

  1. Select People and swipe to All.
  2. Choose > New contact.
  3. If you’re signed in to multiple accounts, select the account to link the contact to.
  4. Select a contact detail, fill in the fields, and select .
  5. Once you’ve added the details, select .

Editing a Contact:

  1. Select the contact and .
  2. If the contact card is linked to multiple accounts, choose an account.
  3. Select a contact detail, edit the fields, and select .

Deleting a Contact:

  1. Select the contact and > Delete.
  2. If the contact card is linked to multiple accounts, choose an account and select Delete. The contact will be removed from your phone and, with few exceptions, from the online service where it’s stored.

 

Saving a Number from a Call or Message

Did you receive a call or message from someone whose number isn’t in your contacts? Save it easily:

Saving a Number from a Call:

  1. Select .
  2. Choose a phone number in the call history and .
  3. Select, edit the number and its type, and select.
  4. Edit other contact details like the name and select.

Saving a Number from a Message:

  1. Select .
  2. Choose a conversation from the list.
  3. Select the phone number at the top of the conversation screen and .
  4. Select, edit the number and its type, and select.
  5. Edit other contact details like the name and select.

Searching for a Contact: If your People hub is getting crowded, you can search or jump to a letter of the alphabet. You can also use voice commands to call or message a contact.

Searching for a Contact:

  1. Select People and swipe to All.
  2. Choose and start typing a name. The list filters as you type.

 

Jumping to a Letter of the Alphabet

Select any letter first, then choose the desired letter to jump to that point in your contact list.

Reducing Visible Contacts: Select > Settings > Filter Contact List, and toggle the desired checkboxes.

Using Voice Commands:

  1. Hold down in any view.
  2. Say “Call” or “Text” and the contact’s name.

Managing Internet Connections

To specify how your phone connects to the internet, adjusting settings for Wi-Fi and mobile data is key. Make sure you choose the optimal connection method based on your network service provider’s data plans.

Using Wi-Fi:

  1. Select Wi-Fi.
  2. Ensure Wi-Fi Networks is set to Enabled.
  3. Choose the Wi-Fi connection you want to use.

Wi-Fi connections are generally faster and more cost-effective than mobile data connections. When both Wi-Fi and mobile data are available, your phone will prioritize the Wi-Fi connection.

Using Mobile Data:

  1. Select Mobile Network.
  2. Set Data Connection to Enabled.

Using Mobile Data While Roaming: Select Mobile Network > Data Roaming Options > Allow Roaming.

Note: Using mobile data during roaming can significantly increase costs, especially when abroad.

For the fastest available mobile connection, select Highest Connection Speed and a connection type. However, keep in mind that continually searching for and connecting to the fastest network may consume more battery.

You may receive mobile data access points from your network service provider, or you can manually add them.

Manually Adding a Mobile Data Access Point:

  1. Select Mobile Network > Add APN.
  2. Enter the APN address in the APN field.
  3. Provide the username and password for your mobile data account.
  4. If a proxy server is used for the APN, enter the address and port number in the respective fields.

  • Regularly check for available connections, and manage them through notifications displayed briefly at the top of the screen.
  • Enable encryption to enhance Wi-Fi security and reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your data.

Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network:

  1. Select Wi-Fi.
  2. Ensure Wi-Fi Networks is set to Enabled.
  3. Choose the Wi-Fi connection you want to use.

Connecting to a Hidden Wi-Fi Network:

  1. Ensure Wi-Fi Networks is set to Enabled.
  2. Select Advanced > .
  3. Choose the network type and select Add.

Disconnecting Wi-Fi or Mobile Data:

  1. Select > .
  2. For all mobile data connections, select Mobile Network > Data Connection > Disabled.
  3. For all Wi-Fi connections, select Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi Networks > Disabled.

Sharing Your Mobile Data Connection: Connect your phone wirelessly to a computer or another device to use your mobile data connection on that device. A Wi-Fi connection will be established.

  1. Select > Shared Internet.
  2. Set Sharing to Enabled.
  3. To change the connection name, select Configuration > Broadcast Name and enter a name. You can also enter a password for the connection.
  4. Select the connection on the other device.

Keep in mind that the other device will use data from your data plan, potentially incurring data traffic charges. For information on availability and costs, contact your network service provider.
